I worked with Mrs. Millie Belmonte's 7th grade biology classroom twice a week at Clark Avenue Middle School in Chelsea Massachusetts during the 2005-06 school year. I helped develop and teach hands-on activities and new content related to Millie's current curriculum, Massachusetts State Standards, and MCAS testing goals for all three biology classes that rotate through Millie's room. I also encouraged students to consider a science career by talking about my own science experiments, how their science classes relate to the real world, and how they can pursue a career or education in science. When I was not at Chelsea, I was working on a PhD in Neuroscience at Boston University, studying the hormone leptin in the hypothalamus.
