Creation of a National Center for Faculty Development in Family Medicine

Overview: The primary goal of this project, an extension of the Vietnam Family Medicine Project (2001-2007), is to solidify the specialty of Family Medicine in Vietnam by optimizing training of teachers through faculty development and enhancing medical delivery through certification and continuing medical education.
Objectives:
- Create two model Family Medicine Health Care and Training Centers (FMHC&TC) in Hanoi
- Establish a core of internationally trained advanced degree specialists in Family Medicine to serve as teachers within the discipline in Vietnam with our partner the University of the Philippines
- Create a Faculty Training and Development program to provide an advanced degree in Family Medicine in Vietnam
- Work with the Ministry of Health to establish a set of guidelines for practice and a process of certification for the postgraduate trained Family Medicine specialist
- Establish program of Continuing Medical Education (CME) in Family Medicine
