This annual three-week course, which will be held\u00a0<b>from July 9- 29, 2017\u00a0<\/b>in Haiti\u2019s Central Plateau, is designed for health professional students of all levels and links clinical medicine with social medicine teaching.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The course merges a number of unique pedagogical approaches including field visits, classroom- based presentations and discussions, group reflections, student presentations, films, and patient interaction. These approaches are utilized to create an innovative, interactive learning environment in which students participate as both learners and teachers.\u00a0We hope to advance the entire class\u2019 understanding of the interactions between the\u00a0biology\u00a0of\u00a0disease\u00a0and the social, cultural, economic, political, and historical factors that influence illness presentation and social experience.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">Eligibility criteria for applicants:<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">-Graduate-level health profession students of any year (undergraduates considered on a case by case basis)<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">-Working proficiency in French<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">-Availability for the entire length of the course<\/span><span class=\"s3\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">(July 9-29, 2017)<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">This course is offered by EqualHealth (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.equalhealth.org\/\"><span class=\"s4\">www.equalhealth.org<\/span><\/a>) in collaboration with SocMed (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.socmedglobal.org\/\"><span class=\"s4\">www.socmedglobal.org<\/span><\/a>).<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">More information about the course and how to apply may be found at\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/equalhealth.org\/socialmedicine\"><span class=\"s4\"><b>equalhealth.org\/socialmedicine<\/b><\/span><\/a>.
