The hospital is the primary teaching affiliate for Boston University School of Medicine. Within the Section of General Internal Medicine, the Clinical Addiction Research and Education (CARE) Unit conducts research, educates health professionals, provides health care, and informs clinical and public health practice and policy to improve the lives of people with unhealthy alcohol and other drug use.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Job Description \u2013 Research Assistant<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The Research Assistant will support projects in the Clinical Addiction Research and Education (CARE) Unit within the Section of General Internal Medicine. The CARE Unit is an academic unit addressing clinical, education, and research aspects of alcohol and other drug use and disorders. Primary responsibilities of this position involve assisting in implementation of research activities.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Essential responsibilities and duties include:<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\uf0b7 Providing support for local and international research studies.<br \/>\n\uf0b7 Providing meeting support (e.g., arranging conference calls, preparing agenda and reports, taking and distributing minutes).<br \/>\n\uf0b7 Maintaining a reference database for faculty publications and grants (e.g. acquires articles and stores them in an electronic reference system).<br \/>\n\uf0b7 Creating and editing research presentations with PowerPoint.<br \/>\n\uf0b7 Conducting literature searches. Assisting investigators with manuscript and presentation preparation.<br \/>\n\uf0b7 Assisting with travel arrangements (e.g., booking flights and hotel, visa applications).<br \/>\n\uf0b7 Processing reimbursements for expenses and assisting with tracking budget items.<br \/>\n\uf0b7 Assisting with Institutional Review Board (IRB) protocol applications and amendments.<br \/>\n\uf0b7 Providing support for preparation and submission of new grant applications and grant reports.<br \/>\n\uf0b7 Assisting with development of research protocols, forms and assessments.<br \/>\n\uf0b7 Performing quality control procedures for ongoing research projects.<br \/>\n\uf0b7 Providing support for managing a sample biorepository (coordinating shipping, maintaining documentation).<br \/>\n\uf0b7 Misc. tasks (e.g., on-campus errands, data entry).<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Education and Experience<\/span>:<\/p>\n<p>\uf0b7 Bachelor\u2019s degree is required.<br \/>\n\uf0b7 Candidates should have experience and be interested in clinical research and supporting programs and projects.<br \/>\n\uf0b7 Interest in substance use disorders and HIV a plus.<br \/>\n\uf0b7 Enrolled in a Masters of Public Health program<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Knowledge and Skills:<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\uf0b7 Positive and flexible attitude with excellent interpersonal skills is essential.<br \/>\n\uf0b7 Ability to understand and summarize scientific literature.<br \/>\n\uf0b7 Ability to follow and summarize discussions related to study design and analyses.<br \/>\n\uf0b7 Ability to work on multiple simultaneous projects in a deadline-driven environment .<br \/>\n\uf0b7 Ability to work independently and be a good problem-solver.<br \/>\n\uf0b7 Excellent English communication skills (oral and written).<br \/>\n\uf0b7 Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (i.e. MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook) and web browsers.<br \/>\n\uf0b7 Experience with RefWorks and WordPress, Adobe Suite a plus, but not required.<br \/>\n\uf0b7 Preference given to candidates with administrative experience, strong writing and organizational skills.<br \/>\n\uf0b7 Fluency in Russian a plus.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>To apply, please send a resume and cover letter to Sally Bendiks at sally.bendiks@bmc.org.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Organization Description: Boston Medical Center is a 496-bed academic medical center located in Boston&#8217;s historic South End.
