Speaker: Dr. Rebecca J. Stone. This project is in collaboration with Dr. Emily Rothman, Dr. Diane Kinney and Dr. Julia Campbell. Bio: Rebecca Stone is an Assistant Professor of Sociology and Criminal Justice at Suffolk University, Boston. Dr. Stone’s primary areas of research expertise are justice-involved women, women’s substance use, public health approaches to crime prevention and reduction, and qualitative research methods including narratology and life history interviews. She is also interested in women’s desistance from criminal offending and substance use as a process of internal transformation or identity change. Her scholarship is shaped by a commitment to feminist criminology and to social justice, especially regarding race, class, gender, and health. Her research appears in such journals as British Journal of Criminology, Feminist Criminology, Race and Justice, and Justice Research and Policy. She also has experience working with community organizations in research collaborations and training and technical assistance capacities, including data collection and analysis, crime mapping, and community engagement efforts.
