    Developing Language Proficiency using Technology<\/h2>\n

    The 2nd Annual BU Mini-Conference on Developing Language Proficiency using Technology <\/strong> was held in the College of Arts and Sciences on April 15-16, 2015. More than 50 people attended, producing a wide range of stimulating ideas through interactive presentations, discussions, and conversations. This event was co-sponsored by the Geddes Language Center (GLC) and the Digital Learning Initiative (DLI).<\/p>\n

    The Wednesday evening keynote delivered by Professor Fernando Rubio <\/strong>, Associate Professor of Spanish Linguistics and Co-Director of the Second Language Teaching and Research Center at the University of Utah, and a member of the ACTFL Board of Directors.\u00a0 The title of the keynote was “Bigger, better, fast, more: Technology in support of language learning”<\/strong>. In it, Professor Rubio focuses on the notion of affordances and discusses how technology can both facilitate and expedite the progression through the language proficiency continuum by enabling us to integrate more efficiently all the elements required for successful language learning.
