He holds a <\/span>PhD from the London School of Economics <span>and Political Science<\/span> and is an economist at the Finance for Development Lab. His academic research focuses on Chinese macroeconomic policy, as well as Chinese investment and development policy in sub-Saharan Africa. He has taught <em>China &amp; The Global South<\/em>\u00a0<em>and\u00a0International Political Economy<\/em> at LSE and\u00a0<em>Global Development: Theory, Policy, Practice\u00a0<\/em>at Sciences Po.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to his academic research, Stephen works on the reform of the International Financial Institutions, with a focus on the use of Special Drawing Rights. He was previously a consultant to the UN Economic Commission for Africa, the Executive Director of the LSE Global Economic Governance Commission and a member of the Economic Policy Advisor Committee of the 2020 Biden campaign.
