Previously, he was Senior Fellow in the Jackson Institute for Global Affairs, Yale University and was also Professor in the Practice of International Economics and Finance at the School of Management at Yale University, 2010-12. He has also served as Distinguished Consulting Professor at Stanford University in 2009. Mohan was also a Distinguished Fellow with Brookings India.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Mohan is currently a member of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/gdp\/task-force\/\"><span>Task Force on Climate, Development and the International Financial Architecture<\/span><\/a>, <span>a consortium of experts from around the world utilizing rigorous, empirical research to advance a development-centered approach to climate change across the international financial architecture (IFA).<\/span><\/p>\n<p>He has been closely associated with the Indian economic reforms process from the late 1980s. He was Executive Director on the Board of the International Monetary Fund, Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank of India, Secretary, Economic Affairs, and Chief Economic Adviser of the Indian Ministry of Finance, and Economic Adviser in the Ministry of Industry.<\/p>\n<p>He was also Chairman of Government committees that produced the influential reports on infrastructure:<span>\u00a0<\/span><em>The India Infrastructure Report<\/em><span>\u00a0<\/span>(1996),<span>\u00a0<\/span><em>The Indian Railways Report<\/em><span>\u00a0<\/span>(2001) and<span>\u00a0<\/span><em>The India Transport Report<\/em><span>\u00a0<\/span>(2014).<\/p>\n<p>After the Great Financial Crisis, he co-chaired the G20 Working Group \u201c<em>Enhancing Sound Regulation and Strengthening Transparency<\/em>\u201d (2009), and the CGFS\/BIS Working Group on<em><span>\u00a0<\/span>\u201cCapital Flows and Emerging Market Economies<\/em>\u201d (2009).<\/p>\n<p>He has authored three books on urban economics and urban development; two on monetary policy:<span>\u00a0<\/span><em>\u2018Monetary Policy in a Globalized Economy: A Practitioner\u2019s View\u2019 (2009), and<span>\u00a0<\/span><\/em><em>\u201cGrowth with Financial Stability: Central Banking in an Emerging Market\u201d.<span>\u00a0<\/span><\/em>His most recent book (edited)\u00a0is<em><span>\u00a0<\/span>\u201cIndia Transformed: 25 Years of Economic Reforms\u201d.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>He has a BSc (Eng) from Imperial College of Science and Technology, University of London (1969), a BA from Yale University (1971) and an MA and Ph.D. in economics from Princeton University.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":19363,"template":"","_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/gdp\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/profile\/16824"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/gdp\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/profile"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/gdp\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/profile"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/gdp\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/19363"}],"version-history":[{"count":7,"href":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/gdp\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/profile\/16824\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":33078,"href":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/gdp\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/profile\/16824\/revisions\/33078"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/gdp\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=16824"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
