To reinforce commitments to international cooperation and policy research for global change, the Global Development Policy (GDP) Center has officially signed a new international academic partnership with the Shanghai University of International Business and Economics (SUIBE), aimed to bridge academic collaboration and action for policy solutions across borders.<\/p>\n

Last month, Meibo Huang from SUIBE visited Boston University and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for a new partnership with the GDP Center. The agreement aims to promote academic exchanges and research cooperation between the two universities and represents a mutual commitment to addressing global geopolitical challenges and advancing international sustainable development.<\/p>\n

Meibo Huang serves as the Director of SUIBE\u2019s International Development Cooperation Academy, a strategic partner of the GDP Center\u2019s Global China Initiative, whose mission is to advances policy-oriented research on China\u2019s overseas economic activity in the Global South and its engagement with international institutions. Since its establishment in 2018, the Academy has conducted rigorous research on international development, the Belt and Road Initiative and China-Africa economic engagement.<\/p>\n

The MoU was signed by Boston University\u2019s Provost and Chief Academic Officer Gloria S. Waters and Vice President and Associate Provost for Research Kenneth R. Lutchen, alongside Meibo Huang and SUIBE\u2019s President Rongming Wang. The agreement encompasses potential collaboration across areas of mutual interest, including joint seminars and roundtable meetings, research and student exchange and sharing of publications.<\/p>\n

The GDP Center and SUIBE have maintained an ongoing academic exchange in recent years. Most recently, Meibo Huang delivered a research talk open to the Boston University community on debt sustainability analysis and joined a panel event in Washington D.C. organized by the GDP Center on Chinese development finance in Africa.<\/p>\n

The signing of this MoU strengthens this relationship and reinforces the GDP Center\u2019s commitment to working with global partners to advance financial stability, human well-being and environmental sustainability across the globe.<\/p>\n
