{"id":16673,"date":"2021-10-04T06:59:09","date_gmt":"2021-10-04T10:59:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/gdp\/?page_id=16673"},"modified":"2025-10-14T17:35:15","modified_gmt":"2025-10-14T21:35:15","slug":"task-force-about","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/gdp\/task-force-about\/","title":{"rendered":"About"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Task Force on Climate, Development and the International Financial Architecture is a consortium of experts from around the world utilizing rigorous, empirical research to advance a development-centered approach to climate change across the international financial architecture (IFA). The Task Force believes it is imperative that the global community support climate resilience and transitions to a low-carbon economy in a just manner. The mission of the Task Force is to advance a development-oriented climate policy in the international financial architecture through rigorous empirical research, policy engagement and strategic communications.<\/p>\n<p>The Task Force launched on October 4, 2021 with two inaugural publications:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/gdp\/2021\/09\/23\/toward-development-centered-climate-policy-at-the-international-monetary-fund\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><em>strategy report<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/a> proposing a framework for the IMF to help facilitate just, green transitions for member countries.<\/li>\n<li>A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/gdp\/2021\/09\/28\/re-channeling-special-drawing-rights-for-a-climate-resilient-and-just-transition-prospects-for-a-resilience-and-sustainability-trust\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">policy brief<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/a> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">presenting a structure for the IMF\u2019s proposed Resilience and Sustainability Trust to help distribute the historic $650 billion in Special Drawing Rights for rebuilding the global economy.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Recognizing that a shift into the climate policy landscape will require significant reform to the IFA, the Task Force will produce a series of research products while engaging in critical policy dialogue to provide empirical, rigorous research that can inform this transition.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Member institutions:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-stringify-indent=\"0\" data-stringify-border=\"0\">Intergovernmental Group of Twenty-Four (G24)<\/li>\n<li data-stringify-indent=\"0\" data-stringify-border=\"0\">Vulnerable Group of Twenty (V20) Ministers of Finance<\/li>\n<li data-stringify-indent=\"0\" data-stringify-border=\"0\">African Center for Economic Transformation (Ghana)<\/li>\n<li data-stringify-indent=\"0\" data-stringify-border=\"0\">African Economic Research Consortium (Kenya)<\/li>\n<li data-stringify-indent=\"0\" data-stringify-border=\"0\">Boston University Global Development Policy Center (USA)<\/li>\n<li data-stringify-indent=\"0\" data-stringify-border=\"0\">Centre for Policy Dialogue (Bangladesh)<\/li>\n<li data-stringify-indent=\"0\" data-stringify-border=\"0\">Centre for Social and Economic Progress (India)<\/li>\n<li data-stringify-indent=\"0\" data-stringify-border=\"0\">Financial Futures Center (Philippines)<\/li>\n<li data-stringify-indent=\"0\" data-stringify-border=\"0\">Macro &amp; Green Finance Lab, National School of Development, Peking University (China)<\/li>\n<li data-stringify-indent=\"0\" data-stringify-border=\"0\">Wirtschaftsuniversit\u00e4t Wien (<span>Austria)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/gdp\/2021\/09\/23\/toward-development-centered-climate-policy-at-the-international-monetary-fund\/\" class=\"button\">Read the Strategy Report<\/a>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/share.hsforms.com\/1Jih_pmkATwa6pbWo-QDT9Q51mi0\" class=\"button\">Don't Miss a Publication - Sign Up to Receive Updates<\/a>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Task Force on Climate, Development and the International Financial Architecture is a consortium of experts from around the world utilizing rigorous, empirical research to advance a development-centered approach to climate change across the international financial architecture (IFA).
