Owen Cortner is a Pre-Doctoral Fellow for the Global Development Policy Center’s Land Use and Livelihoods Initiative and will begin his Ph.D. in the Department of Earth and Environment at Boston University in 2018. Prior to joining the GDP Center, Owen worked on agricultural and environmental issues at a consulting firm and with USAID as a graduate student at UC Davis. He has lived and worked internationally with significant projects in Malaysia, Brazil, and Rwanda. His research focuses on the role of technology adoption in sustainable and transparent agricultural supply chains, particularly in the context of livestock production in Brazil and the United States.
