Care especially for athletes’ needs

The Ryan Center, a gift from Robert L. and Sharon G. Ryan, houses our Sports Medicine & Related Services practice, which provides exceptional service to clients, who reap the benefits of a full continuum of care operating in one building. Programming includes orthopedics, sports medicine, radiology, physical therapy, athletic training, nutrition, and family medicine, as well as prevention and post-rehab training. Also, Sargent College students are encouraged to take advantage of the resources available in the Ryan Center to build on their academic coursework with clinical experience.

Orthopedics and Sports Medicine

Staffed by the Boston University team orthopedic physicians, the Orthopedics and Sports Medicine practice diagnoses and provides treatment for a wide range of orthopedic problems. Patient care is streamlined thanks to the availability of on-site diagnostic testing and the integration of physicians in the treatment team.

Specializing in orthopedic and sports injury rehabilitation, the center combines advanced treatment techniques provided by experienced clinicians and customer service excellence to help individuals meet their rehabilitation goals. Using the facility’s state-of-the-art resources (including a Swim-Ex therapeutic pool) and focusing on individualized care, manual therapy, and therapeutic exercise, the Physical Therapy Center is among the top facilities of its kind in the country.

Post-Rehab Training and Prevention

Jointly, rehabilitation and exercise specialists provide programs that fine-tune gains patients have made in rehabilitation. Emphasis is on prevention and further improvement of the individual’s condition. Progressive group and individual prevention programs are offered for key areas (i.e., Healthy Back, Lower Body Strengthening).

Nutrition Programs, Counseling, and Outreach

Dynamic programming is offered at the beginning, intermediate, and advanced levels. For beginners, programming focuses on education and realistic lifestyle modifications. Advanced programming is offered for competitive athletes and others who wish to continue their education for peak performance. Also, outreach programs bring nutrition and lifestyle improvement information to the entire campus.
