New FitRec Member Tips
Thank you for becoming a member of FitRec. We hope to be an integral part of your healthy lifestyle!
Here's a few notes to help you ease into your FitRec membership.
If you ever have any questions, please contact the membership desk at 617-358-3740 or stop by in person at the front desk.
Safety and security is our first concern. Members must swipe and display their BU ID card to gain access to the facility. Cards are not to be transferred for use by others. If you are an alumni or spouse on a plan, please stop by the FitRec Front Desk to have a card made. If you lose your card, there is a $40 replacement fee.
Cancelling Your Membership
Monthly membership plans can be cancelled at any time. In order to terminate membership by the end of a current month, you must fill out a cancellation form by the 10th of that month. Cancellation forms are available at the Front Desk or can be downloaded from our web site.
Subscribe to our monthly newsletter to receive the latest FitRec news and informative wellness facts.
Group Exercise Cards
A great value for members only, the group exercise card allows you to attend any of our designated fitness classes for the entire semester. Register online.
Members can sponsor guests to use the facility for $10/cash per day per guest. Passes are purchased at the Front Desk. You must accompany your guest during the visit. For more information, please review our guest pass policy.
If you are bringing in a minor, you must have a FitRec Usage Agreement signed by their legal parent or guardian. Forms are available at the Front Desk or on our website.
Happy Hour Workouts
Happy Hour workouts are held on Fridays from 4-5 pm. These drop in classes are a great way to "sample" our offerings, and best of all they are free.
This semester's schedule.
Please visit our website for the most up-to-date building hours. You can also pick up an hours sheet at our front desk. Periodically, we must adjust hours for maintenance, swim meets and university events. We will post these changes on our web site as soon as we are made aware of them.
If your health insurance offers a wellness benefit and you require a proof of membership, please review our request for insurance reimbursement.
Locker rooms are located on all levels of the building excluding the top floor. Separate faculty/staff locker rooms are available on the second floor by the four court gym and on Lower Level 1 near the aquatics center.
Entrance to the locker rooms requires a code to be entered on the keypad by the door. Please ask any FitRec staff member for the code.
Locker & Towel Service
To inquire about annual locker and/or towel service, stop by our Pro Shop on the lower level. More on locker service.
Day use lockers are located in the hallways just outside of all of the locker rooms. Please make sure to lock up all your belongings while you are in the building and to remove your lock when you leave for the day. Feel free to bring your own lock. Locks are also available to purchase or borrow at the Pro Shop.
Lost and Found
Lost and found is located at the Pro Shop on Lower Level 1 of FitRec. Only lost IDs are kept at the FitRec Front Desk.
FitRec offers a wide variety of noncredit classes each semester in areas such as aquatics, climbing, EMT, fitness and dance. In order to accommodate your busy schedule, noncredit classes run for different lengths ranging from one to fourteen weeks. Check out our full menu of recreational classes.
Parking is available in the Agganis Arena Lot for $1/per half-hour or at the meters on Commonwealth Avenue. Staff with a green BU parking sticker may park at no additional charge.
Between 6pm and 11pm Arena parking patrons (without a BU parking pass) are asked to pay the maximum rate upon ENTRY, $1 per half-hour. Upon leaving, you will be refunded for any unused parking hours.
Please note, parking fees increase during special events at Agganis Arena. More information on parking, including restricted dates.
Swimsuits are required attire for all swimmers.
Swimmers with hair longer than 1/2 inch long buzz cut must wear a swim cap. It is up to the Lifeguard on duty’s discretion to determine if length of hair requires a cap. No t-shirts, cut-offs, or under garments allowed. Long hair must be tucked up inside swim cap. Children under the age of 13 do not need to wear a cap.
Track & Tennis Center
The Track and Tennis Center (TTC) contains a banked six-lane 200 meter indoor track, an exterior flat jogging lane, a throwing area, 4 tennis or basketball courts, aerobics space, and locker rooms. This facility is a shared space with Athletics and many other university programs. Recreational use of this facility for FitRec members is available during the following dates and times. Please note: access for recreational use is limited. Schedule subject to frequent change.
