The Reach program is split into two sections, instruction and tour. The instruction section includes rehearsals and technique classes at FitRec. The tour section includes the outdoor performance in Boston. Back by popular demand, we have our Optional three-day Pedagogy Workshop Intensive from July 5 – 7.

Instruction

2023 Dates: July 10 – 26, Monday – Friday, 9 am – 2 pm

We spend the first three weeks of the program learning skills and preparing the choreography for our performance and Motion Art workshops for campers. Daily activities will include:

• Technique classes in ballet, modern, jazz, and hip-hop
• Creating a 45-minute performance from both repertory and original work developed by company members
• Special classes in teaching dance and dance composition

For those interested in teaching, we’ll focus on best practices on working with children and adults, lesson planning, and effective motivational tools.

“I love kids, so when we got to interact with them, such as teaching them a dance or just playing games, I felt honored to be a part of the community. I felt so important because they idolized us, and each time we went to a community I tried my best to be a good example for the kids.
