Fitness & Recreation Center COVID-19 Information and FAQs

It is important for your health to keep moving. For ideas, exercises and tips, check out our How to Keep Moving series.

In regards to whether FitRec will be open in the fall and questions about Intramural/Club Sports, PE classes, or fitness classes: we are currently working to get guidance from State, City and University health officials, and then we will work to complete our plans over the summer. We will post all updates here as soon as we have them!

Boston University has canceled in-person classes and moved to remote teaching and learning for the balance of the spring semester, as well as Summer Sessions 1 and 2. The University has directed undergraduate students to return to their homes, canceled all events and athletics, and strictly limited gatherings on campus.

In keeping with the guidance of the BU COVID-19 response concerning transmission of disease and social distancing, FitRec will be closed for personal fitness and recreation until further notice. Additionally:

All recreation programs and activities that cannot be offered online will be cancelled during this period.

Students enrolled in Physical Education (PDP) courses have been emailed instructions for course participation during this period.

We understand that recreation and physical activity is a source of stress relief and wellbeing for many in our community. We encourage all members of our community to keep moving – get outside, practice yoga, exercise in your home. Watch our website and social media in the coming weeks for tips and exercises you can do wherever you are.

Please keep in mind that a significant number of our programs and classes have been impacted by this situation. It may take 5-10 business days for your refund to be processed. We appreciate your patience during this time.
