The Department of Physical Education, Recreation and Dance in collaboration with the Boston University College of Fine Arts School of Theatre presents the 23rd annual Aurora Borealis: A Festival of Light and Dance. Aurora Borealis is a vibrant exploration of the relationship between light and form with a focus on collaboration and experimentation, featuring dance and movement pieces by faculty and students. The performances are Monday, December 9, 7pm and 9pm.  Yo-EL Cassell and Micki Taylor-Pinney are the artistic co-directors. Mark Stanley is the Lighting Design Faculty Advisor; lighting will be designed by Margaret Garrity and India Silverman, graduate students in the School of Theatre Lighting Design Program. Lynda Rieman is the BU Dance Theater Production Manager. Event is Free and Open to the Public. No ticketing. 

This year’s concerts will include:
  • Directed Study projects in composition and direction by CFA acting students and dance minors under the advisement of Yo-EL Cassell.
  • Choreography performed by students from BU Dance Program and SOT classes, including work by dance and SOT faculty, Jossie Coleman, for her Afro-Caribbean, CardioJazzFunk, Heels, Jazz, Hip Hop, and Dance Styles of the African Diaspora classes; and pieces from the Aerial Dance Choreography class, facilitated by dance faculty, Molly Baechtold.
