Who is required to file a <\/span>FAFSA<\/b>? <\/span><\/p>\n

All first-year, transfer, and current students are required to file a FAFSA to apply for federal and state financial aid each year. The Boston University FAFSA school code is 002130<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Who is required to file a <\/span>CSS Profile<\/b>? <\/span><\/p>\n

All first-year, transfer, and any current students seeking BU need-based scholarships who:<\/span><\/p>\n

  1. \n
      \n
    1. are not currently receiving a BU need-based scholarship, and, or<\/li>\n
    2. are submitting an appeal for reconsideration of a BU need-based scholarship decision.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      The CSS Profile™ is used to establish eligibility for BU need-based scholarship aid. The Boston University CSS Profile school code is 3087<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

      Create a StudentAid.gov account before you complete the FAFSA.<\/h4>
      <\/span><\/p>\n

      The student applicant and all contributors on the FAFSA (usually a parent) must create their own <\/span>StudentAid.gov account<\/span> if they have not already done so. All contributors must sign their name on the FAFSA and the signature is provided electronically via this account.<\/span><\/p>\n

      Enter your Social Security number and your full legal name on CSS Profile and FAFSA.<\/h4>

      Enter your (the student applicant\u2019s) correct Social Security number and full legal name (never a nickname) as they appear on your Social Security card, on both the CSS Profile and the FAFSA.<\/span><\/p>\n
