If your BU need-based financial aid award is covered under The BU Promise<\/a>, it meets your full demonstrated financial need. However, that does not<\/strong> mean all of your expenses will be paid, even in your first year.<\/p>\n

Depending on your demonstrated need, you will be responsible for a portion of your expenses. Even if BU aid goes up each year by the same percentage as the tuition increase, you’ll still be responsible for some of the increase in tuition, food, housing, and other costs. You will need to plan for this and think about how to minimize expenses and maximize resources<\/a>. The BU Scholarship Assurance<\/a> enables you to plan for the cost of your entire degree by guaranteeing your Boston University need-based scholarship for each of your undergraduate years!<\/span><\/p>\n

Before you make a decision to enroll at BU we strongly recommend that you make a plan and assess the financial feasibility of paying all four years at BU based on the initial award offered with your admission decision. But, sometimes things don’t go exactly as planned and that’s where we can help!<\/p>\n

If you have had a significant change<\/span> in circumstances that has disrupted your plan for this year, BU Financial Assistance can review an appeal for reconsideration prior to your enrollment deposit deadline (admitted students) or payment deadline (continuing students).<\/p>\n

Admitted Students<\/strong>: Please submit a complete appeal as soon as possible during your appeal review window if you wish to appeal your financial aid award. We cannot consider any additional appeals after you have deposited for enrollment during your first year.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Students who do not apply for financial aid prior to admission will not be considered for BU scholarship assistance until their second year, unless their family financial circumstances change unexpectedly.<\/span><\/p>\n
