Plus, our Scholarship Assurance guarantees your BU aid for each of your remaining undergraduate years (up to eight semesters). That means you can plan for the cost of your entire degree!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h4 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">Renewal Applicants<\/h4><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you previously received <\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/finaid\/how-aid-works\/types-of-aid\/scholarships-grants\/need-based\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">BU need-based scholarship aid<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, you do not need to reapply for it. The CSS Profile&#x2122; application is not required after the first year, unless you are submitting an appeal for reconsideration of your BU need-based financial aid. Please note the following conditions for renewal:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You must meet <\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/finaid\/how-aid-works\/eligibility\/satisfactory-academic-progress\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Satisfactory Academic Progress<\/span> <\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">standards.<\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW178768334 BCX0\">You must have received no more than seven semesters of BU Scholarship<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW178768334 BCX0\">. BU Scholarship is awarded for a maximum of eight semesters<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You must maintain the residency requirements of your <\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Charles River Housing Grant<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">for that portion of your award, if applicable.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Your award could be reduced if:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Our calculation of your eligibility for your\u00a0initial\u00a0award was based on your status as a resident student and you commute from home in future years, or<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:240}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">You\u00a0are enrolled less than\u00a0full-time\u00a0as an\u00a0undergraduate, or<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:240}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">If you are studying abroad and your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/abroad\/\">BU study abroad program<\/a> costs are less than a semester on-campus in Boston.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We encourage you to complete the <span>FAFSA (BU School Code 002130),<\/span><span> which is required to reapply for federal and state financial aid including <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/finaid\/how-aid-works\/types-of-aid\/scholarships-grants\/federal-grants\/\"><span>fede<\/span><span>r<\/span><span>al grants<\/span><\/a><span>, <\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/finaid\/how-aid-works\/types-of-aid\/scholarships-grants\/state-grants\/\"><span>state grants<\/span><\/a><span>, <\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/finaid\/how-aid-works\/types-of-aid\/loans\/\"><span>student loans<\/span><\/a><span>, and <\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/seo\/students\/work-study\/\"><span>Federal Work-Study<\/span><\/a><span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">File the 2026\/2027 FAFSA by our April 1 priority deadline, or soon after, to ensure that any federal\/state aid you&#8217;re eligible for will be included in your decision notification. You can expect your decision by early July.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After filing the FAFSA, please monitor your email and MyBU Student for any potential additional requirements that will be needed to complete your application for Federal and State Aid. Contributors (student and\/or parent) to your FAFSA are required to transfer IRS information directly to your FAFSA <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> you may also be asked to submit tax returns to verify the information supplied on the FAFSA.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To renew a merit award, you must meet the <\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/finaid\/how-aid-works\/types-of-aid\/scholarships-grants\/merit-based\/how-scholarships-are-renewed\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">merit award renewal criteria<\/span><\/a>\u00a0<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">for your scholarship.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Students returning from a leave of absence who need their award reinstated should complete the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/finaid\/forms\/loa-return\/\">Return from Leave of Absence Form<\/a>.<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h4 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">New Applicants<\/h4><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>If you have not received Boston University need-based scholarship aid in the past and would like to apply for need-based financial aid for the 26\/27 Academic Year, please complete the<span>\u00a0<\/span>CSS Profile&#x2122; and FAFSA.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Submit the<span>\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/studentaid.gov\/h\/apply-for-aid\/fafsa\">2026-2027 FAFSA<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Submit the<span>\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/cssprofile.collegeboard.org\/\">2026-2027 CSS Profile&#x2122;<\/a>.\n<ul>\n<li><span>If your biological or adoptive parents are divorced, separated, and\/or do not share the same household list both parents (and any stepparents if applicable) on your Profile, as instructed. The parent who provides the majority of your financial support must provide their information on your Profile and FAFSA. Your other (noncustodial) parent must complete a Profile also, which will be appended to your Profile later. Enter your other (noncustodial) parent\u2019s email address on your Profile, as instructed, so CSS can send them information on how to create their separate Profile account log-in.<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Submit\u00a0a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/finaid\/files\/2020\/10\/bu_waivreq.pdf\">CSS Profile&#x2122;\u00a0Waiver Request<\/a><span>\u00a0<\/span>if getting a Profile from your other (noncustodial) parent will be impossible.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Submit<span>\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/finaid\/how-aid-works\/confirm-verify\/income-confirmation\/\">income confirmation<\/a>\u00a0and other required documentation\u00a0directly to BU Financial Assistance.<\/li>\n<li>Submit an<span>\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/finaid\/files\/2020\/11\/appeal-form-ev.pdf\">Appeal for Financial Aid Reconsideration<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>If this application results in you being awarded\u00a0BU need-based scholarship aid, the same amount will be awarded in subsequent years.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Remember, federal financial aid can&#8217;t be disbursed if your account balance is more than $200.
