Introducing the BU Promise. Beginning in the 2026\u201327 academic year, Boston University will meet 100 percent of\u00a0demonstrated\u00a0financial need for\u00a0<\/span>first-time, first-year students who are US citizens and permanent\u00a0residents<\/span><\/i>\u2014without loans.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Under this program, admitted first-year students from families with annual household incomes<\/a> below $200,000 and typical assets\u00a0can expect to pay no more than $20,000\u00a0per academic year\u00a0toward the cost of attendance. In other words, financial aid will cover full tuition\u00a0<\/span>plus<\/span><\/b>\u00a0a\u00a0portion\u00a0of\u00a0standard\u00a0housing and dining costs.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Families with a total income of $75,000 or less, with typical assets, can expect to pay\u00a0nothing.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Families earning more than $200,000 are also encouraged to apply. BU considers each family’s individual financial circumstances\u2014including factors such as multiple children in college or\u00a0a high cost\u00a0of living\u2014when\u00a0determining\u00a0need-based aid.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Students must\u00a0submit\u00a0all required financial aid materials<\/a> and meet eligibility requirements<\/a> to be considered for need-based aid. BU Financial Assistance will make final determinations\u00a0regarding\u00a0family contributions and financial aid awards based on each family\u2019s\u00a0circumstances.\u00a0<\/span> In considering all circumstances impacting a family’s ability to pay for the cost of education, BU Financial Assistance reserves the right to make the final determination of an expected contribution and financial aid award.<\/sub><\/p>\n
