Roscoe Giles, of the Hariri Leadership Team, To Testify on Supercomputing in Washington, D.C.

Roscoe Giles, Hariri Institute for Computing executive steering committee member and Boston University professor of computer engineering, will testify at the Supercomputing and American Technology Leadership hearing on January 28, 2015 in Washington, D.C. Held by the Committee on Science, Space, and Technology and the Subcommittee on Energy of the U.S. House of Representatives, the hearing will assess “the U.S. Department of Energy [DOE] Office of Science’s Advanced Scientific Computing Research (ASCR) program as a mechanism to support technological innovation in the United States.”

Giles’ testimony will address the value of basic research funded through the Office of Science and carried out by DOE national laboratories and universities, as well as the technological challenges and potential value of high performance computing systems in the United States.
