  •   4th Annual Lynne Stevens Award $5000 to Lance Laird ThD for his proposal for a qualitative research study on Muslim women’s experience with domestic  violence  and development of a list of best practices. Dr. Laird. is Assistant Professor of Family Medicine , Assistant Director of the Master of Science Program in Medical Anthropology and Cross-Cultural Practice, and an organizer of the Greater Boston Muslim Health Initiative which began as a symposium held at the Boston University School of Medicine in May 2013.

  • 3rd Annual Stevens Award for Research or PIP   – Shannon Bell MD , Resident, Dept of OB-GYN $5000 (IRB approval finalized spring 2014)  to establish LINK aftercare clinic for sexual assault survivors

  • 2nd annual Research award shared : $2500 to Brian Penti MD  DFM to train clinicians in Lesotho regarding responding to sexual assault survivors ( paid),  $2500 to Melissa Foynes PhD and Margret Bell PhD from the Boston VA for focus groups of VA PCPs re barriers and training needs in responding to female veterans’ disclosures. ( IRB approved spring 2014)

  • 1st Stevens Award for Research or Practice Improvement Project Improving Healthcare’s Response to Violence against Women.  $5000 awarded  to  Kate Iverson PhD, Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Boston University School of Medicine and a Clinical Research psychologist at the Women’s Health Sciences Division of the National Center for Posttraumatic Stress Disorder at the VA Boston Healthcare System.  Qualitative study of PCPs and female veterans’ communication needs regarding IPV.In 2013 Dr. Iverson published the results of this work she did as her Stevens project.Iverson, K. et al (2013) VHA Primary Care Provider’s Perspectives on Screening Female Veterans for Intimate Partner Violence: A Preliminary Assessment.
