Learn more about the different career stages we support and what ranks and titles fall into each stage.<\/p>\n<h3>Early Career Faculty<\/h3>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Individuals within the first years of their faculty appointments who have not yet been promoted and\/or tenured.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Examples:<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Assistant Professors\u00a0(tenure track)\u00a0within\u00a0their\u00a0first seven years and pre-tenure.<\/span><\/i><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Lecturers\u00a0within\u00a0their first years of teaching prior to\u00a0applying for senior\u00a0lecturer.<\/span><\/i><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Clinical Assistant Professor<\/span><\/i><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\"> <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Mid-Career Faculty<\/h3>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Faculty\u00a0members\u00a0who have passed the probationary period\u00a0in their discipline\u00a0and been\u00a0promoted and\/or\u00a0awarded\u00a0tenure.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Examples:<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Associate Professors (non-tenure or tenure) who have been promoted from Assistant Professor status.<\/span><\/i><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Senior Lecturers promoted from the Lecturer rank.<\/span><\/i><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Clinical Associate Professor<\/span><\/i><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\"> <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Senior Career Faculty<\/h3>\n<p>Faculty\u00a0members with significant teaching and research experience, and distinguished accomplishments,\u00a0who have\u00a0been promoted within their disciplines and are\u00a0within 10 to 12 years of retirement.<\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Examples:<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Full\u00a0Professors (non-tenure or tenure)\u00a0<\/span><\/i><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Master\u00a0Lecturers<\/span><\/i><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">University Professors<\/span><\/i><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a class=\"button\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/handbook\/appointments-and-promotions\/classification-of-ranks-and-titles\/\">Faculty Handbook Classification of Ranks and Titles<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>BU Faculty Development aims to support faculty at every stage of their career.
