{"id":13220,"date":"2026-01-13T17:30:06","date_gmt":"2026-01-13T22:30:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/excellence\/?page_id=13220"},"modified":"2026-06-16T12:13:33","modified_gmt":"2026-06-16T16:13:33","slug":"shipley-announcements","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/excellence\/shipley-center\/shipley-announcements\/","title":{"rendered":"Shipley Announcements"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"intro-text intro-text--shortcode intro-text--lg\">\n<p>The Institute for Excellence in Teaching &amp; Learning proudly announces the recipients of the Shipley Academic Innovation Fund Award, recognizing faculty-led initiatives that leverage artificial intelligence to reimagine teaching, learning, and academic innovation.<\/p>\n<p><figure class=\"blockquote blockquote--shortcode theme--dory blockquote--has-cite\"><blockquote>\n<p>The remarkable response to these AI-focused academic innovation calls highlights the momentum we are seeing across our faculty community as they explore meaningful and responsible ways to advance AI in teaching and learning<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<\/blockquote><figcaption><cite>\n<p>Wendy Colby<\/p>\n<p><strong>Vice President and Associate Provost of BU Virtual and the Institute for Excellence in Teaching &amp; Learning<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/cite><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s Shipley Academic Innovation Fund supported two distinct areas of focus:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Course-Level Innovation: Incorporating Generative AI to Meet Hub Learning Outcomes<\/strong>, created in collaboration with the Office of Undergraduate Affairs, is designed to integrate generative AI into Boston University\u2019s university-wide Hub general education curriculum. These projects provide students with opportunities to develop fluency in generative AI literacy, ethical use, and innovation.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Catalyzing AI Advancement in Teaching &amp; Learning Through Faculty Collaboration<\/strong>, created in partnership with the AI Development Accelerator (AIDA), provides faculty with the support and creative space to experiment, pilot, and prototype AI-enabled innovations in teaching and learning. Shipley, the Shipley Center is part of the Institute for Excellence in Teaching &amp; Learning.
