He studied literature and philosophy at the <em>\u00c9cole des Hautes \u00c9tudes en Sciences Sociales<\/em> in Paris.\u00a0Brotherhood, his first novel, won the Grand Prix du Roman M\u00e9tis, the Prix Ahmadou Kourouma, and the French Voices Grand Prize.
