Join us WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 3 at 12 PM for a virtual roundtable discussion looking at faith-based responses to the challenges of migration.<\/p>\n

The world continues to see the worst displacement crisis since World War II. In recent years, crises on the world stage\u2014from the Syrian conflict to extreme violence and poverty in Central America and Venezuela and the recent (disastrous) US withdrawal from Afghanistan\u2014have triggered mass movements of people that at once generate an outpouring of support as well as elicit fear and close borders. This inaugural roundtable discussion aims to examine the global displacement crisis and explore what might be possible<\/i>\u00a0to respond to the challenges of migration. Highlighting the innovative efforts of religious civil society actors in Europe to provide safe pathways for forced migrants to seek asylum in Europe through a project called Humanitarian Corridors, the event will discuss lessons learned and their applicability in the context of the United States, particularly along the US-Mexico border. By bringing together scholars and practitioners and linking theological visions of hospitality and justice with political discussions around refugees, asylum seekers and migrants, this event seeks to generate new ideas for responding to the challenges of migration.<\/p>\n

Schwarz<\/strong>, Executive Director, Pi Sigma Alpha; David Sulewski<\/strong>, PhD Candidate, Global Governance & Human Security, UMass Boston; Lauren Turek<\/strong>, Associate Professor of History & Director of Museum Studies, Trinity University, Texas; and Erin Wilson<\/strong>, Associate Professor of Global Politics and Religion, University of Groningen.<\/p>\n
