Lusophone Voices: A Reading & Conversation with with Portuguese writer João Tordo and Brazilian writer Paulo Scott

Please join us for a reading and conversation with Portuguese writer João Tordo and Brazilian writer Paolo Scott. The writers discuss the emerging future in Europe and other issues at the intersection of politics and culture, including, language, identity, history, and the creative process.

João Tordo was born in 1975 in Lisboa. His novels are published in different countries, including France, Italy, Germany, Brazil or Hungary, among them: ‘O Paraíso Segundo Lars D.’ (2015), ‘O Luto de Elias Gro’ (2015), ‘Biografia Involuntária dos Amantes’ (2014), ‘O Ano Sabático” (2013).’

Paulo Scott was born in 1966 in Porto Alegre, in southern Brazil, and grew up in a working class neighborhood. At university, Scott was an active member of the student political movement and was also involved in Brazil’s re-democratization process. For ten years he taught law at university in Porto Alegre. He has now published four books of fiction and four of poetry. He also translates from English.
