Kafka’s work has given the world a term that articulates the complexity of the modern condition. The word “Kafkaesque” is recognized worldwide, even by those who have never read a page of his work. But what exactly does it describe — a mood, an atmosphere, a distinctive arrangement of space and time? This talk will discuss the specific narrative techniques that make Kafka’s prose…Kafkaesque.

Moderated by Kaija Schilde, Associate Professor of International Relations, Pardee School of Global Studies.
