This virtual lecture on EU Climate Change Politics and Policy by Henrik Selin, Associate Professor of International Relations and Associate Dean for Studies at BU’s Pardee School of Global Studies, took place on Thursday, February 25, 2021. Prof. Selin began by talking about climate change governance within the EU and how it works as well as some of the goals and policy instruments that the EU has at its disposal. He then discussed the EU’s progress, the Green Deal, and the challenges the EU faces now moving forward. In her response, Miriam Allena, Associate Professor of Administrative Law at Bocconi University School of Law in Milan, Italy, talked about the European Green deal and the need for a new industrial policy and a new governance paradigm if the EU is serious about reaching its audacious climate goals.
