{"id":8308,"date":"2022-09-09T11:53:12","date_gmt":"2022-09-09T15:53:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/english\/?post_type=profile&#038;p=8308"},"modified":"2026-05-28T10:27:01","modified_gmt":"2026-05-28T14:27:01","slug":"nathan-alan-davis","status":"publish","type":"profile","link":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/english\/profile\/nathan-alan-davis\/","title":{"rendered":"Nathan Alan Davis"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"\/english\/files\/2022\/09\/Davis-CV-5.28.26.pdf\">Full CV<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span>NATHAN ALAN DAVIS\u2019s plays include\u00a0<em>Nat Turner in Jerusalem\u00a0<\/em>(New York Theatre Workshop; Stavis Playwright Award),\u00a0<em>Dontrell Who Kissed the Sea<\/em>\u00a0(NNPN Rolling World Premiere; Steinberg\/ATCA New Play Citation), and\u00a0<em>The Wind and the Breeze\u00a0<\/em>(Cygnet Theatre; Blue Ink Award, Lorraine Hansberry Award).\u00a0<em>\u00a0<\/em><u><\/u><u><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Three of his plays will receive world premieres in 2023:\u00a0<em>The High Ground\u00a0<\/em>(Arena Stage),\u00a0<em>Eternal Life Part 1\u00a0<\/em>(Wilma Theatre) and\u00a0<em>Origin Story\u00a0<\/em>(Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park). In recognition of his body of work, Nathan has received a Windham-Campbell Prize (2021), a Steinberg Playwright Award (2020), and a Whiting Award in Drama (2018). His commissions include Seattle Rep, Audible, True Love Productions, and BMG Music. He is a Playwrights\u2019 Center Venturous Fellow, a Lecturer in Theater and Berlind Playwright-in-Residence at Princeton University, and serves on the faculty of the Sewanee Writers\u2019 Conference.<u><\/u><u><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Also a screenwriter, he has worked on TV and feature projects for HBO Max, Netflix, AMC, and Paramount.
