IS&T RCS Tutorial - Managing Python Environments
- Starts: 10:00 am on Thursday, September 16, 2021
- Ends: 11:00 am on Thursday, September 16, 2021
Have you ever been confused by all those snake terms relating to the Python programming language? If yes, welcome to the club of confusion. This session aims to clarify how to manage your Python environment so that your work is streamlined, reproducible, and correct. This session will be specific to the SCC. To make the most of it, you are expected to know how to use the SCC already. We will show best practices and configurations for when you want to create, delete, or modify Python virtual environments. We will go over how to install new packages and update existing ones. Pre-existing knowledge of Python and Linux fundamentals is needed for you to make the most out of this session. You do not need to have Python or anything else installed on your computer. You do need to be comfortable with using the SCC through OnDemand as this will be our method of doing hands-on work. We will provide SCC temporary accounts to participants who need them. Debugging of your computer generally will not be possible, due to time constraints.
