  • Ends: 5:30 pm on Thursday, September 24, 2015
Maya Lin’s acclaimed work encompasses large-scale environmental installations, intimate studio artworks, architectural works, and memorials. She virtually redefined the idea of monument with her very first public work, the Vietnam Veteran’s Memorial. Since then she has gone on to pursue a remarkable career in both art and architecture, whilst still being committed to the exploration of time, memory, history and language in her memorials. The College of Fine Arts and the BU Arts Initiative are thrilled to welcome Maya Lin to campus to as the Hamill lecture, which is also the Keynote Address to the National Council of Arts Administrators. The Hamill lecture series, named in honor of BU School of Visual Arts alum Tim Hamill (CFA’65,’68), was created to present artists whose work crosses boundaries among artistic disciplines, and who connect to the art world in a variety of ways. The Hamill Lecture is the most prestigious public lecture of the year within the School of Visual Arts at Boston University. Previous honorees have included Chuck Close, William Kentridge, Jenny Saville, Laurie Anderson, and Kiki Smith. This event is free and open to the public. Seating is first come, first served.
