Most Engineering license managers resided on license-srv4.bu.edu and license-srv1.bu.edu.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"Linux\">Linux<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>IS&amp;T has three Linux VM&#8217;s setup as license servers (i.e. 128.197.228.[37\/38\/39]). When requesting an updated license file we have gone to the redundant setup we are using for packages such as Abaqus, Matlab &amp; MAPLE. Instead of license-srv4, use the following three servers for your request:<\/p>\n<p>NOTE: This example was for abaqus. Replace &#8216;abaqus&#8217; with the package name such as &#8216;comsol&#8217;. &#8216;abaquslic1&#8217; would become &#8216;comsollic1&#8217; in this case. Make sure the Vendor allows VM&#8217;s to be license servers. Cadence in the past was a problem with zones in Solaris and do not allow virtualized license servers.<\/p>\n<p>There are some other servers available like crclic1.bu.edu<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h1 id=\"LicenseSpecificInformation\">License Specific Information<\/h1>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"Abaqus\">Abaqus<\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>BU-wide site license provided by ENG.<\/p>\n<p>On Linux, with the <a href=\"\/engit\/NetApp\">NetApp<\/a> drives mounted, just follow the <a href=\"\/engit\/Grid-Abaqus\">Abaqus instructions for the Grid<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>On Windows or on a Linux Abaqus installation where Abaqus is installed on local disk, set your license server to @abaquslic1.bu.edu or ideally, to server1=abaquslic1.bu.edu, server2=abaquslic2.bu.edu, server3=abaquslic3.bu.edu , or &#8220;abaquslic1.bu.edu,abaquslic2.bu.edu,abaquslic3.bu.edu&#8221; or &#8220;@abaquslic1.bu.edu,@abaquslic2.bu.edu,@abaquslic3.bu.edu&#8221; depending on which way the configuration GUI accepts them, or you can edit the abaqus_v6.env file manually:<\/p>\n<p>On a Linux machine, this file is usually found in <tt>\\xc2\\xa0&lt;your_abaqus_install_dir&gt;\/6.8-4\/site\\xc2\\xa0<\/tt>. On a Windows machine, it is usually found in <tt>\\xc2\\xa0C:\\\\Program\\xc2\\xa0Files\\\\ABAQUS\\\\6.8-4\\\\site\\xc2\\xa0<\/tt>. Note: the &#8220;6.8-4&#8221; folder will be another number if you have a different version of ABAQUS installed.<\/p>\n<p>Open the abaqus_v6.env file and change the abaquslm_license_file= line to read:<\/p>\n<pre class=\"darkSnippet\">ABAQUSLM_LICENSE_FILE=\"27001@abaquslic1.bu.edu,27001@abaquslic2.bu.edu,27001@abaquslic3.bu.edu\"<\/pre>\n<p>Student Consultants: When installing on a Windows machine, please see the README.txt on specific instructions for ABAQUS Extended version installation. You can purchase Acrobat Pro through <a class=\"http\" href=\"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/tech\/support\/desktop\/purchase\/departmental\/departmental\/\">BU Departmental sales<\/a> for $80. This locally installed license works anywhere and is good for laptops that are disconnected from the BU\\&#8217;s network. Your departmental purchaser can order the license for you. ENGIT has the media if you don&#8217;t want to purchase your own disks. Just arrange a time with us to install the software.<\/p>\n<p>For administrative offices and faculty, we offer Acrobat Pro on our Citrix server. These are shared licenses, and users must be added to the ENG-Citrix-Adobe-Users group to access Acrobat Pro. At this time we can&#8217;t provide Acrobat Pro for others, such as research labs. For instance HFSS with 25 seats runs off the Ansoft LM. The ANSYS license manager is on eng-license and the Ansoft license manager is on eng-license2.<\/li>\n<li class=\"gap\" style=\"list-style-type: none;\">ME purchased a 2007 version on ANSYS. The license manager is hosted eng-license1 port 1055. If this is installed on a laptop you will need to be connected to the University network via VPN.
