The app emerged from the challenge at the annual <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">HackHarvard\u2019s Hackathon<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, where this year\u2019s theme was to push for progress in society with technology. Negron took this year\u2019s theme and ran with it.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/eng\/files\/2022\/09\/mat-reding-YtUTFrZGw6k-unsplash-424x636.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"168\" height=\"252\" class=\" wp-image-91396 alignright\" \/>Seeing his grandmother, a native Spanish speaker, struggle to fill out forms, Negron sought to create a solution for those who deal with the same issue. In fact, \u201cthere are 45 million people in America who don\u2019t speak English\u201d, Negron says <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(Lakowski, BU Today)<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. The result &#8211; Phillina.space, an app that lets the user upload a document and translate it into their native language using Google Translate. Once the form has been completed, it is then translated back into English. While the app is still in the development stage, its potential is far-reaching.
