SCONES is being hosted by Professor Ioannis Paschalidis (ECE, BME, SE), the Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE Transactions on Control of Network Systems (TCNS), a publication sponsored by the IEEE Control Systems Society.

“It is exciting to bring SCONES back to Boston University,” said Paschalidis. He added that, “the agenda of the symposium demonstrates the spread of network thinking and the impact of systems and control methods to a variety of areas, from power systems, to robotics, biology, as well as networks with human actors such as social networks and transportation networks.”

SCONES is meant to bring together the scientific community working on questions relating to networks and control, either mathematical and/or of interest to a variety of application domains. The first Symposium was held in 2014 to celebrate the inaugural issue of TCNS and discuss the future of the networks and control field. The IEEE publication TCNS focuses on systems with interconnected parts, which have emerged in many fields, including economics, biology, and all areas of engineering.

SCONES 2017 will feature invited talks from global research leaders and a contributed poster session, showcasing the work of students and post-doctoral fellows, many of whom are at Boston University. The Center for Information and Systems Engineering, directed by Paschalidis, is handling the organization of SCONES.

Speakers for SCONES 2017

Maryam Kamgarpour, Swiss Federal Institute of Technology

Ashutosh Nayyar, University of Southern California

Cedric Langbort, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign

Walid Saad, Virgina Tech

Anna Scaglione, Arizona State University

Lang Tong, Cornell University

Pascal van Hentenryck, University of Michigan

Steven Low, California Institute of Technology

Naomi Leonard, Princeton University

Calin Belta, Boston University

Jonathan How, Massachusetts Institute of Technology

Solmaz Kia, University of California at Irvine

Domitilla Del Vecchio, Massachusetts Institute of Technology

Marc Vidal, Harvard University

Adilson Motter, Northwestern University

Andrew Emili, Boston University

Ben Golub, Harvard University

Amir Ajorlou, Massachusetts Institute of Technology

Ketan Savla, University of Southern California

Giacomo Como, Politecnico di Torino and Lund University

The 2nd Symposium on the COntrol of NEtwork Systems (SCONES) will be held on Monday, October 16 and Tuesday, October 17, 2017, at the Boston University Photonics Center.

[236,287,240,907,1035
