{"id":157774,"date":"2024-11-21T13:55:34","date_gmt":"2024-11-21T18:55:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/eng\/?p=157774"},"modified":"2025-03-31T10:21:40","modified_gmt":"2025-03-31T14:21:40","slug":"accelerating-an-equitable-clean-energy-transition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/eng\/2024\/11\/21\/accelerating-an-equitable-clean-energy-transition\/","title":{"rendered":"Accelerating an Equitable Clean Energy Transition"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><strong>Ryan and colleagues work with governor to empower communities while advancing sustainability<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The Healey-Driscoll Administration, UMass Lowell, and Boston University have launched the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mass.gov\/news\/healey-driscoll-administration-umass-lowell-and-boston-university-launch-new-initiative-to-advance-clean-energy-and-build-geothermal-workforce\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Clean Energy and Environment Legacy Transition (CELT) Initiative<\/a>, a new international partnership to advance an equitable energy transition in Massachusetts, empower communities, and train the next generation of climate leaders. The effort is backed by $5.7 million in funding from the Department of Energy Resources. It comes on the heels of Massachusetts recently passing major climate and clean energy legislation, demonstrating the state\u2019s significant investment in sustainability innovation and transformation.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/igs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">BU\u2019s Institute for Global Sustainability<\/a> (IGS) will lead data analysis for CELT, building on the University\u2019s global leadership in data science to address some of society\u2019s most pressing challenges.
