The iLet Bionic Pancreas is<span>\u00a0<\/span><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.betabionics.com\/get-started\/\" target=\"_blank\">now commercially available<\/a>, bringing fresh hope to the almost<span>\u00a0<\/span><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/diabetes.org\/about-us\/statistics\/about-diabetes\" target=\"_blank\">two million Americans with type 1 diabetes<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"is-style-default\">The approval is a massive milestone in a two-decade\u2014and deeply personal\u2014journey. Invented 20 years ago in the lab of Ed Damiano, a BU College of Engineering professor of biomedical engineering, the bionic pancreas combines an insulin infusion pump with algorithm-controlled dosing decision software.
