Richards, Ph.D. (BME &#8217;07)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dr. Michael S. Richards completed our Quantitative Biology &amp; Physiology Training Program, graduating with a Ph.D. from the College of Engineering in 2007. He is now an Assistant Professor of Biomedical Engineering at Rochester Institute of Technology. (<a href=\"\/eng\/files\/2022\/09\/cvMSRichards.pdf\">CV<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>His current role is teaching and research; he is continuously trying to improve content delivery and instruction of my courses: Systems Physiology I (Quantitative Physiology) and Introduction to Medical Imaging. Michael is also doing research in methods to improve prognostic and diagnostic metrics for musculoskeletal disease or injury using ultrasound imaging.<\/p>\n<p>While teaching experience might have been helpful for his time in the QBP program, he appreciated the flexibility to explore and find a research area that best suited him. The course work particularly in quantitative physiology, biorheology, and digital signal analysis were most valuable.<\/p>\n<p>About his experience, Michael said &#8220;I am incredibly thankful for my time at BU and the BMES department. It was overwhelmingly a positive experience.&#8221; Some of his favorite memories included: studying for my qualifying exam with my other classmates, the social hour with the graduate students and other faculty at the end of the week, and the BME department retreat.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dr. Michael S.
