class=\"size-full wp-image-165630 alignleft\" \/>Photonic Integrated Circuits<\/h3>\n<p><b>What we do:<\/b>\u00a0\u00a0Create photonic on-chip technologies, from fundamental investigations through to applications. \u00a0We invent new photonic devices and circuits, and demonstrate new photonic and electronic-photonic circuits and systems on a chip. \u00a0Project may span theoretical mathematical physics, computational physics\/engineering and scientific programming, device design and simulation, chip design and layout, device fabrication (including use of in-house cleanroom facilities or state-of-the-art semiconductor foundries), packaging and proof-of-concept system building, and experimental studies and demonstrations.<\/p>\n<p><b>Why it matters:<\/b>\u00a0Photonic integrated circuit technologies are enabling new capabilities in: optical communication for data centers, AI processors, and RF\/wireless networks (including mobile communication, sensing and radar); imaging and
