Students who double major must complete a minimum of 160 units and fulfill the requirements for each of the majors. Students requesting to double major must have at least sophomore standing (32 units) and have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.00 to be eligible. Students must complete an <a href=\"\/eng\/files\/2025\/12\/Application-for-a-Double-Major.pdf\">Application for a Double Major<\/a> and obtain approval from advisors of both majors.<\/p>\n<p><span>It is recommended that students interested in pursuing a double major apply<\/span><span> as early as possible in their degree program in order to facilitate course planning, but <strong>in no case later than May 1 of a student\u2019s junior year<\/strong>. Course requirements are found below, in addition to Senior Design Project guidelines.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Please note that the completion of a double major may result in extended time to graduation, and that students must complete the course requirements for both majors before a degree will be awarded. Students always have the option of dropping the double major and completing the requirements of one major to earn their degree; students can email the ENG Records Office at <a href=\"mailto:engrec@bu.edu\">engrec@bu.edu<\/a> to drop their double major.<\/p>\n<h2>Requirements<\/h2>\n<p><strong><em>Please note: <\/em><\/strong>Students are required to complete the non-bracketed courses in each row of their curriculum guide below to satisfy both majors&#8217; requirements. ENG students pursuing a Double Major have the option to enroll in only one (1) Senior Design course sequence of the student&#8217;s preferred department.
