Review this site carefully, including all of the notes below; if any information is unclear, contact the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/eng\/admissions\/undergraduate\/contact-us\/\">Undergraduate Records Office<\/a>\u00a0for clarification.<\/p>\n<p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #808080;\">Step 2:<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h3 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">If the course you wish to take at another U.S. institution <strong>has already been pre-approved according to the BU Transfer Equivalency site<\/h3><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Complete the <a href=\"\/eng\/files\/2026\/06\/Transfer-Credit-Approval-Form.pdf\">Transfer Credit Approval Form<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Indicate if the course has been pre-approved and attach documentation from the Transferology page.<\/li>\n<li>Submit the completed Transfer Credit Approval Form to your Academic Advisor for approval.<\/li>\n<li>Submit signed form and TES approval to the ENG Registrar&#8217;s Office at <a href=\"mailto:engrec@bu.edu\">engrec@bu.edu.<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Paperwork is <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">required<\/span> prior to the course in order for the transcript to be processed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h3 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">If the course you wish to take at another U.S. institution has NOT already been pre-approved according to the BU Transfer Equivalency site<\/h3><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Complete the <a href=\"\/eng\/files\/2026\/06\/Transfer-Credit-Approval-Form.pdf\">Transfer Credit Approval Form<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Obtain and submit the course syllabus from the institution where you intend to take the course; note the syllabus must reflect the term you will be taking the course.<\/li>\n<li>Submit the Approval Form and syllabus to your Academic Advisor for approval.<\/li>\n<li>Bring the Transfer Credit Approval Form and syllabus to the appropriate department for evaluation. For example, if you\u2019re looking to take a math class at another institution you will need to bring your transfer credit approval form and syllabus to BU\u2019s math department for approval.<\/li>\n<li>Submit all paperwork (approved by academic advisor and department) to the ENG Registrar&#8217;s Office at <a href=\"mailto:engrec@bu.edu\">engrec@bu.edu<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #808080;\">Step 3:<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h3 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">Submit an official transcript<\/h3><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Upon course completion, students need to submit transcripts to:\n<ul>\n<li>Email: <a href=\"mailto:CEtscrpt@bu.edu\">CEtscrpt@bu.edu<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Mailed: Credit Evaluation Department, 881 Commonwealth Avenue 2<sup>nd<\/sup> Floor, Boston, MA 02215<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h3>Please note:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>During the academic year, courses will not be considered for transfer credit from another institution while enrolled at Boston University.<\/li>\n<li>Credit is posted only after an official transcript is received showing a grade of C or higher. Courses with grades below C or graded Pass\/Fail are not acceptable for transfer credit.<\/li>\n<li>Grade(s) earned at an external institution will\u00a0<strong>not\u00a0<\/strong>calculate into your cumulative Boston University grade point average.<\/li>\n<li>The number of units for the course must be indicated on the approval form. If the course is a 4-unit course at a school on a semester term system, the student will receive 4 transfer units. If the course is a 4-unit course from an institution on a quarter term system, the student will receive 2.66 units (1 quarter hour unit = 2\/3 semester hour unit). A minimum of 2.50 semester hour units is required to satisfy a specific curricular requirement.
