ENG Summer Term Alumni Research Scholars (STARS)

The STARS program provides housing support that makes it easier for College of Engineering undergraduates to work alongside College of Engineering faculty over the summer, performing research to create solutions to some of society’s most challenging problems.

College of Engineering undergraduates engaged in a faculty-mentored, full-time research experience during the summer may apply for the STARS program. To be eligible, students may:

  1. Receive research funding through the UROP program.
  2. Receive a weekly stipend from a College of Engineering faculty member. The stipend must be at least $385 per week for 12 weeks.

STARS participants are not eligible to take summer courses. STARS participants receive 14 weeks of housing in a Boston University residence hall OR up to $3,725 towards 3.5 months of off-campus housing rent (reimbursement is for actual cost of housing, documentation is required).

Applications are due by February 26th, 2018. Apply online.

You Can Support the STARS Program.

STARS Scholars are supported by contributions to the Engineering Annual Fund. This fund enables Dean Kenneth Lutchen to directly enhance “quality of life” initiatives for our students. If you would like to support a STARS Scholar, make your contribution today.
