Meet Your TRAC Mentors

Esther Hunt

Class of 2025
Major and/or minor: Mechanical Engineering
Hometown: San Antonio, TX
What are your goals after finishing your undergrad? I would like to be hired at an aerospace company and work with
planes or space rovers. If I don’t feel too burned out, I could possibly pursue my masters/PhD in aerospace engineering or robotics!
If you could share a meal with any 4 individuals, living or dead, who would they be? Christina McAuliffe, Katherine Johnson, Emily Dickinson, David Attenborough
On a scale of 1-10, how funny would you say you are? My sense of humor is very random, but my friends would say I’m a solid 7.
If you could live anywhere, where would it be and why? I would live in New Zealand! I love the beautiful landscape and how
accessible the ocean is. The accents are generally very appealing to me and being mistaken as a native Kiwi is a lifelong goal of mine.
What is one piece of advice you wish you were given or known about starting at a new university? Although it can be
overwhelming, remember that a new school is a new opportunity to grow socially and academically, so don’t be afraid to put yourself out there. You will eventually settle in, become more confident, and create some wonderful memories!

Class of 2024
Major and/or minor: Mechanical Engineering
What are your goals after finishing your undergrad? Right after I finish I see myself working in a company to get experience, seeking for partnerships and mentorships to grow along the way both personally and professionally. In the long run I see myself starting a business, since I think it is also important to learn the business aspect of things as an engineer.
If you could share a meal with any 4 individuals, living or dead, who would they be? Tough question, but thinking off the top of my head I’d say Jesus, Einstein, Ghandi and Elon Musk. What an odd bunch.
On a scale of 1-10, how funny would you say you are?
A solid 10!
If you could live anywhere, where would it be and why?
Caracas, Venezuela. My family and closest friends are still living there, and of course my dog. I have a connection with Venezuela because of it’s people and it’s beauty as a country. It’s an amazing place and I hope one day I see it live up to it’s full potential.
What is one piece of advice you wish you were given or known about starting at a new university? Don’t overwhelm yourself, take the time to adapt. Everything around you is new and it takes time to get to know your way around, but there’s always something or someone that would help you find your way around. BU has bazillions of resources at your disposal, so don’t be afraid to reach out. And don’t forget the most important part: Have Fun!!

Elon Musk, Albert Einstein, Richard Feynman, Carl Sagan
On a scale of 1-10, how funny would you say you are?
Probably a 5, depends on the situation.
If you could live anywhere, where would it be and why?
New York City, since it’s near my home and very urban.
What is one piece of advice you wish you were given or known about starting at a new university?
Finding your place on campus can take time and doesn’t happen immediately for everybody.
