Training Program
Boston University’s Center for Enhancing Activity and Participation among Persons with Arthritis (ENACT) sponsors four doctoral fellows in Boston University’s Sargent College Doctor of Science in Rehabilitation Sciences program. Our fellows are new and practiced health professionals whose research interests include promoting activity and participation outcomes among adults with chronic conditions, including arthritis.
Our fellowship program emphasizes knowledge and skills for clinical research methods, rehabilitation processes and outcomes, and rheumatological diseases and outcomes. ENACT fellows participate in mentored research activities, didactic coursework in their academic programs, and seminar discussions of research and other topics related to rheumatological rehabilitation. To complement required curriculum, we design formal training plans based on each trainee’s interests.
ENACT’s accomplished faculty includes national and international leaders in clinical research, rheumatology and rehabilitation research, and education. Trainees must identify a mentor(s) at Boston University in a field of study related to the Center’s activities.
These fellowships, funded by a grant from the National Institute on Disability, Independent Living, and Rehabilitation Research (NIDILRR), provide both tuition and a generous stipend. All ENACT fellows must be full-time students in good standing in Boston University’s Doctor of Science in Rehabilitation Sciences program. See who our fellows are here.
ENACT anticipates that this training program will produce high caliber researchers and we are looking forward to the contributions these fellows will make to the field of rheumatology.
“Rheumatological rehabilitation is an exciting interdisciplinary field that integrates rheumatologic, musculoskeletal, neurological, behavioral and social systems to optimize activity and participation among persons with arthritis.”
– David Felson, MD, MPH ENACT, Director of Training
