This meeting covered a wide range of topics with 50% of the time devoted to discussing BioRAFT. BioRAFT has been live for over two years now and EHS wanted to take some time during this meeting to reiterate to the LSCs the permissions and responsibilities they have regarding their laboratory profile in BioRAFT. In addition to this new hazardous waste module was introduced to the MED campus (already live on CRC Campus) with instructions on requesting pick-ups in BioRAFT provided by EHS Waste Management Division. Historical inspection data, incidents, and findings were also discussed with LSCs. The most recent DEP inspection that was performed on both campuses and its results were discussed with the LSCs. The hard work and diligence of the LSCs in preparation for these inspections was commended.<\/p>\n

    At this meeting Thermo Fisher subject matter experts presented Safety Seminars on Centrifugation (Tom Egan), Biological Safety Cabinets and Tissue culture Incubators (Gary Schoeldler). The introduction by EHS highlighted the need of all labs to approve their chemical inventories and to follow the University approved decommissioning and decontamination procedures when applicable.<\/p>\n

    At this meeting Research Safety noted the arrival of Sr. Research Specialist Nilay Dey to the MED and Sr. Research Specialist Connie Gath moving to the CRC. A PowerPoint presentation covered the following topics: recent laboratory incidents; EHS protocol risk assessments; the Office of Research Compliance and Environmental Health and Safety updated websites. A live tutorial of BioRAFT with a time for question and answer closed out the event.

    Spring 2017<\/h7>

    \nAt this meeting Research Safety noted the departure of Research Specialist Andrea Voehringer from the CRC campus. A PowerPoint presentation from different research supporting divisions was presented. BioRAFT the new software platform to aid in laboratory safety compliance was demonstrated in more depth. Research Safety addressed chemical spills, while Animal Welfare, Industrial Hygiene and Environmental Management gave updates on their programs.
