GEA Welcome Back Party and GEA Representatives for Master’s Students in AY 2025-2026
The GEA Welcome Back Party was held on Wednesday, September 10, from 5-7 pm at the GSU Terrace lounge and patio.
This fall, Bhimraj Bhuller joined Eunji Park as a Representative for Master’s Students on the board of the Graduate Economics Association. Eunji had began her service in Spring 2025. Meanwhile, Eunji’s former co-representative, Eric Liying Zhang, graduated earlier this summer.
Bhimraj Bhuller was born and raised in Jakarta, Indonesia, and came to the US to attend Boston University in 2022. Currently, he is in his senior year pursuing the dual degrees of BA in Mathematics & Economics and MS in Quantitative Economics. While still in high-school, Bhim was struck by the far-reaching impact of economic policies, and he became passionate about a subject that combines high intellectual challenges (data and models) with deep human concerns (families and hopes). Outside the classroom, he works as a Graduate Research Assistant at BU’s Global Development Policy Center. He also served as an undergraduate teaching assistant and peer tutor, as well as interned at the United Overseas Bank and Maybank in Southeast Asia. His amiable disposition and social skills have won Bhim many friends; they will make him a popular student leader.
Eunji Park graduated cum laude from Seoul National University in Korea, with a Bachelor of Economics. She joined the MA in Economic Policy program in Fall 2025, and plans to complete her master’s degree by the end of Spring 2026. Her graduate studies at Boston University are sponsored by the Korea Housing Finance Corporation, where she is a Senior Manager with expertise in several areas. The KHFC’s mission, function, and prominence in the Korean economy are similar to those of Fannie Mae in the US. In addition to her extensive professional experience, Eunji was also a seasoned student leader. So far Eunji has excelled in her graduate studies at BU, and she was awarded a Master Research Fellowship this summer.
The GEA and its student leaders have played an important role in fostering a friendly and cohesive community within the Economics Department. Furthermore, they have left deep and favorable impressions on everyone whose paths have crossed with the master’s program – from potential applicants and new admits, to current students and alumni. The GEA Welcome Back Party was the opening salvo to another fruitful and enjoyable year in the communal life of the Economics Master’s Program. Joining hands with a vibrant Master’s Alumni Council, the Master’s Reps will help organize the Master’s Career Panel and Reception in late fall or early spring, as well as many social gatherings and networking events – over lunch, coffee, or in the pub – throughout the academic year. During the spring semester, we will also be busy with orientation for the incoming master’s class in January, and the Rosenthal Lecture in March. Moreover, the GEA provides a forum for our PhD and master’s students to interact in imaginative and meaningful ways. Many of our past master’s graduates not only went on to PhD programs but also became PhD reps later on.
