The article discusses how a measurable variable from the recent historical past can be used to obtain a constrained estimate of change in an entity of interest at a potential future CO2 concentration from multi-model projections. This research is a continuation of Myneni’s collaborative with colleagues at the Max Planck Institute for Meteorology in Hamburg, Germany.

(2) “Air temperature optima of vegetation productivity across global biomes” published in the journal “Nature Ecology and Evolution” (doi:10.1038/s41559-019-0838-x). The article provides empirical evidence for the existence of an air temperature optima using measurements of in situ eddy covariance and satellite-derived proxies and reports its global distribution.

(3) “Satellite-observed pantropical carbon dynamics” published in the journal “Nature Plants” (doi:10.1038/s41477-019-0478-9). The article uses satellite observations to compute a direct and spatially explicit quantification of annual aboveground carbon fluxes and shows the the tropical net AGC budget was approximately in balance during 2010 to 2017.

For information on Professor Myneni’s research, see http://sites.bu.edu/cliveg

(1) “Investigating the applicability of Emergent Constraints” published in the journal “Earth System Dynamics” (doi:10.5194/esd-10-501-2019).
