BU President Robert Brown sits on the commission. Professor Cleveland and his colleagues provide technical analyses of the options available to the City to reach its goal of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.boston.gov\/departments\/environment\/carbon-free-boston\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">carbon-neutrality<\/a> by 2050.<\/p>\n<p>Researchers in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/ise\/\">Institute for Sustainable Energy<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/earth\/\">Department of Earth and Environment<\/a> are assessing potential technologies and policies that reduce greenhouse gas emissions across the <a href=\"http:\/\/sites.bu.edu\/cfb\/focus-areas\/energy\/\">energy<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/sites.bu.edu\/cfb\/focus-areas\/buildings\/\">buildings<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/sites.bu.edu\/cfb\/focus-areas\/transportation\/\">transportation<\/a>, and <a href=\"http:\/\/sites.bu.edu\/cfb\/focus-areas\/public-services\/\">waste<\/a> sectors in the City. <a href=\"http:\/\/sites.bu.edu\/cfb\/focus-areas\/social-equity\/\">Social equity <\/a>is a key cross-cutting theme. This work is a\u00a0collaborative effort with the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.boston.gov\/departments\/environment\/carbon-free-boston\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">City of\u00a0Boston<\/a>\u00a0and the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.greenribboncommission.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Boston Green Ribbon Commission<\/a>, and\u00a0it will\u00a0inform the City\u2019s upcoming<a href=\"https:\/\/www.boston.gov\/departments\/environment\/climate-action-plan\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u00a0Climate Action Plan<\/a>\u00a0update.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On November 8 Professor Cutler Cleveland presented preliminary results of his team&#8217;s research to the the City of Boston&#8217;s Green Ribbon Commission.
