Financial support for Master’s students is allotted based on need and merit, and on a first-come basis. Partial tuition scholarships may be offered, and\/or some students are invited to serve as teaching assistants for undergraduate courses, at a stipend of $6,000 per semester. Financial assistance does not require a separate application and is decided as completed applications are received. The Department cannot preview potential aid packages in advance of a completed application.<\/span><\/p>\n Occasionally, faculty hire Master\u2019s students to serve as research assistants, paid on an hourly basis; such opportunities depend on matching students’ skills with faculty needs and are usually determined once a student has begun coursework.<\/p>\n Cost Reduction for Students Earning the MS with Thesis<\/strong><\/p>\n Students working to earn the MS in Earth and Environment with thesis may <\/span>be able to reduce their total tuition cost by completing some of their <\/span>degree requirements via summer research credit hours while working on <\/span>their thesis project.\u00a0 Students pursuing this pathway will enroll as <\/span>part time students for 4-8 semesters to complete 20 credit hours in the <\/span>Fall and Spring Semesters and 12 research credits during the summer term.<\/span><\/p>\n The Department of Physical Education, Recreation & Dance<\/a> makes available various graduate assistantships to students enrolled in a graduate degree program at Boston University.
