Another semester of conversation.\u00a0 We talked and talked and talked \u2013 it was joyous.\u00a0 We talked about what was current \u2013 race, Afghanistan, fear, politics, Iraq, and music.\u00a0 We talked to each other.<\/p>\n

We\u2019re concerned about thousands of American troops heading around the world to build up other nations and to chase criminals.\u00a0 We were both hopeful and dismayed about America\u2019s political and social life \u2013 contradictions over campaign promises and actions in elected office; the current role of race in our lives and decision-making; trust of young people\u2019s voices in the future and American life; prisons in Cuba; abuses of human liberties; and, corrupting influences in government.\u00a0\u00a0 We struggled to create rules for when to allow a person to drink a beer or enjoy a glass of wine. We argued about the proper role of sport in colleges and our collective lives, and had no idea how to stop violence and killings in America, Afghanistan, or Iraq.\u00a0 We discussed love. And, we came to blows talking about music and whether Hip-Hop is dead (again).<\/p>\n

Discussions about music always get us hyped.\u00a0 What\u2019s the tune \u2013 that jam, sweet piece of music \u2013 that you heard this year that made a difference; that you have to share with someone else; that everyone must hear? Here\u2019s our answer:<\/p>\n
